The new year is off to a great start in the hair department. From the midi-bobs popping up on the red carpet – hi Selena and Penélope – to a move towards simpler, softer silhouettes, we’re doing it differently this year. The French actor Juliette Binoche is a great example of our new 2024 mood – she made an appearance at the Ami show in Paris during men’s fashion week.
Dressed in grey suiting, Binoche – who is 59 – showed off a blunt-cut, mid-length lob. Slightly longer than the midi-bob that is currently trending, the style grazed her collarbones and felt minimal and chic. While lobs can often feel a little “safe”, Binoche put a cool French spin on hers, with lots of shine, blunt-cut choppy ends, all-over colour (rather than highlights), and a polished (but crucially not too polished) finish. As is the French way, it didn’t look “done”.
Binoche paired her un-fussy hair with a barely-there beauty look to boot. Think: alabaster skin with a pop of blush on the apples of her cheeks, defined eyes and groomed brows. Fresh, French and very cool.
