Anne Hathaway Pairs Her “Andy” Fringe With A Megawatt Manicure

If that viral clip of Anne Hathaway dancing to Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda at the Versace afterparty wasn’t enough to make you girl crush hard, then perhaps her recent array of brilliant beauty looks will do the trick? For what it’s worth, we’re obsessed. At the Indie Spirit Awards on Sunday, the star revisited an old hair favourite and paired it with a megawatt manicure. The devil – as they say – is in the detail.

Revisiting a fringe that many will recall from 2006 – when she famously played stressed-out assistant Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada – Hathaway proved the power of a face-framing hairstyle. Cut to look slightly wispy, her eye-grazing bangs came courtesy of her hairstylist Adir Abergel, who is also the man behind Kristen Stewart’s mixie cut. There’s a reason why Andy gets bangs as part of her fashion girl glow-up in the film – they are the definition of sophisticated, and lend an air of mystery to the wearer. Put simply, they’re cool, and look especially good in dark hair. See Dakota Johnson, another proponent of perfect brunette bangs.

Given her shimmering outfit – a light-catching sequined Valentino jumpsuit and plenty of Bulgari diamond rings – Hathaway’s manicure needed to be equally eye-catching. Manicurist Tom Bachik was inspired by her ensemble to create a shiny chrome effect on simple oval nails. “I used Mia Secret’s new [shade] Sea Foam, then glazed the nails using metallic flakes to make them pop,” he said of the look. The great thing about chrome is that you don’t need lots of jewels for your hands to shine, reflective nails will do that (essential) job for you.
